Margit Gosau New CEO of SPORT 2000 International on 1st March

The expansion of the buying group and increased cooperation with top international brands are at the heart of her vision for the future for the group of associated companies.

On 1st of March 2017 Margit Gosau will become the new CEO of SPORT 2000 International, headquartered in Mainhausen. This puts the 50-year-old business graduate at the top of the second largest purchasing cooperation of independent sports retailers with 4,154 outlets in 25 countries and a total revenue of around 6.6 billion euros. The internationally experienced manager succeeds the two interim managing directors, Holger Schwarting and Hans-Hermann Deters. The two members of the SPORT 2000 International supervisory board can now again focus on the management of SPORT 2000 Austria and SPORT 2000 Germany.

Chairman of the Supervisory Board Dr Holger Schwarting is pleased to have Ms Gosau on board of SPORT 2000 International as a proven manager, who will lead the group of associate companies with vision, service-orientation and efficiency: “Margit Gosau has international experience and know-how in the sport and premium fashion industry. With her expertise and her significant brand and retail insight she will focus on the growth of SPORT 2000 International and promote its expansion into additional countries.

Margit Gosau looks back on a successful career. The business graduate has been active in the sports and premium fashion industry for 23 years. In her professional career she has been responsible in different managerial positions in the fields of sales, product management, marketing, retail concepts and global brand management. She was most recently a member of the senior management team at the global shoe brand ECCO as the Vice President of Global Brand Management. Before coming to ECCO, she worked for ten years at Reebok and its subsidiary company Rockport in the marketing, product merchandising and demand planning departments, as well as Director of Marketing and Merchandising for Area Central.

SPORT 2000 International is the second-largest buying cooperation of independent sports retailers in Europe with 4,154 stores in 25 countries and a total turnover of more than 6.6 bn euros in the year 2015. The sports retail company has over 35,000 employees.
